    Be the Change!

This learning community focuses on writing and community service. Through serving others, we can learn a great deal about our community and ourselves. You will learn how to be a successful, involved student by volunteering through the first year experience course (CAS 100) and its accompanying service-learning class (CAS 190). You will write about your experiences in all three classes while learning how to sharpen your writing skills in your English course (EH 101).
  • Public Speaking (CA 110) and First Year Course (CAS 100)

    U for Life.

We engage in many activities providing students the opportunity to better understand yourself, your peers, as well as function successfully in an increasingly diverse society. The goal of the seminar is to serve as a bridge into new learning environments and assist students in taking ownership and responsibility for their learning and life choices. Learn how to balance advocacy and inquiry through practice, conviction and leadership. Explore how the choices you’ll make in higher education and in everyday life are informed by our deeply held values and our views about human good. We begin by planning for our lives, emphasizing two of the major tasks of adult development: developing intimate relationships and giving back to others. This community includes Public Speaking (CAS 110), and the First Year Experience Course (CAS 100).
  • Music Theory (MUT 112) and First Year Course (CAS 100)

Are you a music major? Are you in the marching band? Does your life revolve around music? It will if you join this community! This new learning community is for students majoring or minoring in all areas of music. It includes the required College of Arts and Sciences first year course (CAS 100) alongside the Music Theory class (MUT 112). Music Theory is like the engine in your car; you can’t drive anywhere in this discipline without it. Enjoy the camaraderie of working with others that share your passion as well as the support of a peer leader trained in music.
