Transfer Articulation

We appreciate your interest in the University of South Alabama (USA). USA is dedicated to making the transfer transition as easy as possible. As required by state law, USA will take your coursework as outlined on the AGSC Transfer Guide and graduate you with the same number of hours as our native students in the same major (assuming you do not change majors). If you have printed out an AGSC Approved Transfer guide for Information Systems, we would strongly recommend that you print this page and use it along with your AGSC guide. Our Colleges/Departments have chosen those courses which would best fit into USA's existing General Studies Program. To minimize transfer problems and best prepare you to finish your program in the minimum hours required, you should take courses as outlined below. Required Courses

The following courses are required for the degree in Information Systems at the University of South Alabama. These courses are in addition to the courses listed on the STARS guide that you accessed. These courses fulfill degree requirements in Area V of the Alabama General Studies Core Curriculum and may be taken at your community college.

Remember that although more than 64 semester hours may be taught at the freshman/ sophomore level and thus listed as possibilities on the STARS guides and this Area V page, you MAY NOT transfer more than 64 semester hours from a junior or community college. You should take no more than 64 semester hours at the two-year institution.

AREA II – Humanities and Fine Arts

In addition to the specific requirements for this area, i.e. 3 semester hours in World or American literature and 3 semester hours in the arts, a 3 hour semester course in Public Speaking (CA 110) is a required course for the Information Systems specialization at the University of South Alabama.				In Alabama Junior/Community Colleges, SPH 107 satisfies the required Public Speaking requirement in the Humanities and Fine Arts area of the Information Systems specialization at the University of South Alabama.

AREA III - Natural Sciences and Mathematics:

For the Information Technology specialization at the University of South Alabama, the following options are available in Area III:				In Alabama Junior/Community Colleges, the following options are available in Area III for the Information Systems specialization at the University of South Alabama:

Eight semester hours of natural sciences courses with laboratory are required from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Geology. The two courses may be from different natural science areas or they may be a two course sequence (it is unacceptable to use two “first courses” of the same natural science, e.g. PH 114 and PH 201 is an unacceptable combination). AREA IV – History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences

In addition to the specific requirements for this area, i.e. a World or American history, a 3 hour course in Microeconomics (ECO 215) is a required course for the Information Systems specialization at the University of South Alabama.				In Alabama Junior/Community Colleges, ECO 232, satisfies the required Microeconomics requirement in the History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences area of the Information Systems specialization at the University of South Alabama.
