Special Student Populations
Adult Students

Nontraditional (older) students who are over the age of 25 have special requirements, concerns, and constraints on their time that separate them from the traditional students.

Often need help in developing a sense of community
May need help with specific concerns such as housing, day care, career planning, and social networking
Are usually also transfer students
Bring a different level of maturity and depth of exposure to their education
May often lack confidence in their ability as students and need much encouragement
At the other extreme, some may be over confident regarding their abilities to handle school and full time employment or full time child care. Need advisors who can help them develop a realistic program.
