Scholarships
 
The University of South Alabama offers excellent scholarship opportunities to students of high academic achievement. The scholarship programs are available to new undergraduate students at USA. Funds are depleted early, so students are encouraged to follow the application procedures and deadlines.
 
Special Note About Scholarship Students
All students attending under a University-sponsored scholarship must be enrolled for a minimum of 15 credit hours each term (excluding summer).
 
Application procedures for the Bay Area Scholarships, Presidential Scholarships and the Abraham Mitchell Business Scholarships are as follows:
 
apply for admission to the University of South Alabama;
apply for scholarships by completing the USA scholarship application;
request official ACT or SAT scores be mailed to USA Admissions;
request an official high school transcript be mailed to USA Admissions (transcript must show grades through the junior year); and
complete the above requirements by the deadline (for deadlines see charts below).

Application Procedures for the USA Honors Program:
apply for admission to the University of South Alabama;
request official ACT or SAT scores be mailed to USA Admissions;
request an official high school transcript be mailed to USA Admissions (transcript must show grades through the junior year);
complete an Honors Program Application (available by calling the Honors Program Office at (251) 460-6261 or visiting www.southalabama.edu/honors/);
provide two letters of recommendation;
complete an essay on a topic specified annually by the USA Honors Program;
complete the above procedures by January 31 of the senior year;
final candidates will be invited to a campus interview before selection;
late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Note: Because the Honors Program and the Mitchell Business Scholarship are extremely competitive, interested students are encouraged to follow the application procedures (deadline: December 1) for the Presidential Scholarships. If you are awarded an Achievement or Presidential Scholarship and subsequently are awarded an Honors or Mitchell Scholarship, then your previously awarded USA scholarship will be voided.
 
Community College Transfer Scholarships
Transfer students enrolling in Fall or Summer Semesters will be considered for $1,000 per year awards based on the GPA earned at the two-year institution. To be considered, students must apply for admission to USA and have the official two-year college transcripts mailed to USA Admissions by May 1. These scholarships are for two years only.
