| Quarter
to Semester Conversion |
| |
| USA converted from the quarter
system to the semester system in Fall 1998.
Students who began college, whether at USA
or elsewhere, prior to Fall Semester 1998,
and who have been in school continuously,
are considered "transition" students.
As such, these students are not to be disadvantaged
by the conversion if they are making acceptable
progress towards a degree. If they do not
change their program of study, they should
not have to remain in school any longer
as a result of the conversion. |
| |
| Conversion
of Hours - To convert quarter hours
to semester hours, divide the quarter hours
by 1.5. For example: |
| |
| A 5 quarter hour
course divided by 1.5 = 3.33 semester hours |
| |
| Current transcripts
show all credits as semester hours. |
| |
| Course Sequencing
- Some two-semester course sequences are
equivalent to a 3-quarter course sequence.
For instance, CH 114, 115, and 116 on the
quarter system are equivalent to CH 131
and 132 on the semester system. However,
a student must have completed both CH 114
and 115 to get credit for CH 131. See the
Semester Transition Course Conversion
Table for the quarter to semester equivalencies.
In many cases, courses were renumbered. |
