If a student wants
to obtain a second major after receiving a bachelor's
degree from USA, the student reenters the University
as an unclassified student, completes the Second
Major form in the Registrar's Office, and
completes the requirements for that major.
At
least half the total number of hours required
for the second major must be completed in residence
at USA.
At least
nine hours of the work in the second major satisfactorily
completed in residence at USA must be in addition
to work completed as part of the bachelor's degree.
Once the
student has completed the requirements, the appropriate
dean's office will send a memo to the Registrar's
Office certifying that the requirements have been
met. A statement is added to the student's transcript
that he or she has "completed work equivalent
to a major in ____________".
Students
completing a major in this fashion may not apply
the additional course work toward a second bachelor's
degree.
