The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes outstanding achievement and/or leadership demonstrated by the recipients in their chosen fields of interest, or to the University of South Alabama, over an extended period of time. These achievements may include personal or professional recognition and/or accomplishments. Recognition not determined by service rendered to the University of South Alabama or to the National Alumni Association, but these may be included in consideration.

   
  Distinguished Service Award
   
 

Category 1 recognizes exceptional or continuing service to the University of South Alabama or the National Alumni Association. This award publicly acknowledges those who have volunteered or contributed significant amounts of time, talents, and resources to the University of National Alumni Association over an extended period of time. Nominees do not have to be University of South Alabama alumni.

Category 2 recognizes alumni for exceptional or continuing service to the University, community, state, nation or an international country. This award is designed to acknowledge those alumni who have made exemplary contributions including public service, philanthropy, volunteerism, time or talents benefiting the University, community, state, nation and/or an international country. Nominees must be University of South Alabama alumni.

   
 
On Thursday, March 12, 2009, the USA National Alumni Association inducted its fifth class of Distinguished Alumni and Service Award recipients at the Mitchell Center, on USA’s campus.   The sell-out event honored five alumni and three service award recipients for their outstanding achievements and contributions.   For more information on this program and how to nominate, visit www.southalabama.edu/alumni/forms.html.
