| On June 16 and 17 teachers from the Baldwin and Mobile County public school systems again participated in a successful SARIC-sponsored Project Archaeology workshop. Facilitators Ashley Dumas and Anne Dalton and 8 teachers spent the first day of the workshop studying concepts and processes of archaeology and discovering new ways to introduce them into classrooms. This year's workshop participants were fortunate enough to spend the second day of the workshop at Fort Morgan, site of the 1864 Battle of Mobile Bay. This site was being excavated by high school students and teachers as participants in the Alabama Museum of Natural History's 21st Museum Expedition program. In addition to the wonderful opportunity to hold the workshop in a casemate of Fort Morgan, Project Archaeology participants were excited to have the opportunity to see archaeology in action! | ||||||||||||||
