Thomas E. Armitstead took his photos for the Mobile & Ohio Railroad in 1895 (115173 bytes) About the collection...

Very little is known about Thomas E. Armitstead, the photographer. He seems to have been working for the land development department of the Mobile & Ohio Railroad and was in the Mobile area only a short time, ca. 1895.
The M&O RR leased its timber lands to various logging companies. Pictured here is a narrow gauge engine belonging to the M. L. Davis logging operation near Oak Grove, Alabama.
