In September 2005 after OIF 04-05, 1/7 split up and Apache Troop changed flags to 4-9Cav, 2BCT, 1CD. Where he was deployed in support of Joint Task Force Katrina as the platoon Sergeant. Upon his redeployment home, he attended BNCOC graduating on the commandants list. He was selected for a small arms training course with DELTA operators and was recognized as the best shooter from the Brigade. SFC Miller has completed two long range rifle courses with MITT teams from the U.S. Army Sniper School. He completed several training exercises, two gunneries and one NTC rotation in preparation for OIF 06-08. He completed a 15 month deployment to the Kark, Kindi, Dora, and Salhiyah districts of Baghdad. He was also in charge of three Entry Control points securing the International zone. He was selected for SFC in August of 2006 and took over as platoon Sergeant of 2nd plt in September. As a result of his unwavering heroism and dedication to both the mission and his Soldiers, SFC Miller was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
SFC Miller pinned on E-7 in March 2008 and attended ANCOC at FT. Benning GA. in September 2008 graduating with the highest grade point average in his Armor class. He successfully completed several field training exercises, two gunneries, and a JRTC rotation in preparation for OIF 09-10. He conducted a 12 month deployed to Combat Outpost Doria in the Rashad district of Kurkuk Iraq. Conducting numerous combat, stability, and force protection operations, forward reconnaissance, counter reconnaissance, search and destroy, counter mortar, humanitarian, stability, raid, cordon and search, route clearance operations, base security operations and Entry Control point operations. As a result of his unwavering heroism and dedication to both the mission and his Soldiers, SFC Miller was awarded his second Bronze Star medal.
SFC Miller is currently stationed at the University of South Alabama’s Army ROTC as an assistant professor of military science instructor, teaching, coaching and mentoring the future leaders of the United States Army. SFC Miller is the current MSL II course instructor and the Ranger Challenge coach. He has conducted two Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) rotations. Graduated the Cadet Command’s instructor training course (ITC), and the Cadet command Government Purchase card course (GPC). |
