The College of Arts & Sciences was the University of South Alabama's first college when the University opened its doors to students in June 1964. All of the classes were held in the Administration Building, which is now named for the University's founding president, Dr. Frederick P. Whiddon. Today, the nineteen departments of the College of Arts & Sciences are found in ten different buildings spread across the main campus with the Dean's Office housed in the Humanities Building.
