CB 560 Cancer Biology I 3 cr

This course is the first in a series of two courses that provides a comprehensive coverage of molecular and cellular aspects of carcinogenesis as well as clinical issued related to human cancer. This course will specifically cover areas of histology, pathology, epidemiology, genetics, viruses, oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes.

CB 561 Cancer Biology II 3 cr

This course is the second in a series of two courses that provides a comprehensive coverage of molecular and cellular aspects of carcinogenesis as well as clinical issues related to human cancer. This course will specifically cover areas of cellular and molecular basis of chemotherapy, pharmacology of anticancer drugs, molecular and cellular basis of radiotherapy, and biological therapy of cancer and clinical trial design. Prerequisites: CB 560.

CB 566 Topics in Cancer Biology 1 cr

Students and faulty participate in a supervised reading of current literature and meet once a week to interact in a discussion of the selected article. The goal of this course is to maintain the student’s level of information at a “state of the art” in both methods and theory in the discipline and to develop critical skills in reviewing the literature. Student presentation is required to receive credit.

CB 782 Biostatistics 4 cr

A course in Biostatistics that targets students majoring in the medical field with all subject matter related to applications in the medical sciences. The course includes descriptive statistics; probability distributions; sampling; estimation, hypothesis testing; experimental design including repeated measures, factorial experiments and multiple comparisons; statistical modeling including dummy variable applications and building best models; analysis of covariance, chi-squared applications; vital statistics; distribution-free methods; diagnostic techniques and computer assisted data analysis using MINITAB and SAS.
