Foundations |
| Educational
Foundations courses are designed to help students
throughout the College of Education develop a
critical perspective on the relationship between
school and society. Students use a variety of
academic disciplines to study the problems of
education. Foundations courses focus on teachers,
their occupation as educational reform has affected
it, and students as contemporary social forces
have shaped them. The influences of social class,
race, ethnicity, and gender take center stage
in every course. Although there are no degree
or certification programs in Educational Foundations,
these courses support undergraduate and graduate
programs throughout the College. |
| |
| GRADUATE |
| Educational
Leadership |
| Educational
Leadership courses empower students for advancement
in educational service. Leadership programs emphasize
growth from the knowledge base through simulations
to practical application and career mobility.
This Department offers three certification programs
approved by the Alabama State Department of Education
for educational administrators: a Class A Certification
Program, a Class A Certification Program with
a Master of Education degree, and a Class AA Certification
Program with an Educational Specialist Degree.
Students can also qualify for the Class AA Certificate
while enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy Program
in Instructional Design and Development. In addition,
the Department offers a Masters Degree program
that does not lead to state certification. |
| |
| Online Programs
in Educational Administration |
| Two of the Departments
programs are now available Online: the Class A
Certification program in Educational Administration,
and the Class A Certification program in Educational
Administration with the Master of Education Degree
in Educational Administration. These programs
are designed to prepare administrators for Alabamas
public and private schools. Because the programs
are nationally recognized and accredited, students
may be able to qualify for administrative positions
in other states. |
| The Online format
offers students the flexibility and convenience
of taking graduate courses at home, at the office,
or wherever else they have access to the Internet.
Online programs are designed to provide contact
with the professor, interaction with other students,
and access to the University Library. |
| Program requirements
are listed below. Students can complete most requirements
Online. EDL 513, Instructional Leadership and
Curriculum Development, must be taken on campus.
The written comprehensive examination must also
be taken on campus. |
