BMS 150 Introduction to Business and Management 4 cr
A survey of the field of business, including profit-seeking firms,
not-for-profit organizations, and new businesses created by entrepreneurs. Emphasis on the
business environment, organization and management, current economic and international
issues, and career opportunities. Societal and ethical issues are also examined. Open to
BMS freshmen and all other majors.
BMS 250* Quantitative Analysis for Business 4 cr
Expression of business and economic concepts in mathematical terms;
basic models and solution methods underlying many problems in economics and business;
comparative static analysis and optimization problems. Prerequisites: ST 175, MA 171 or MA
120.
BMS 300** Business Research Techniques 4 cr
The application of statistical techniques for analysis of business
problems. Emphasis will be placed on forecasting techniques. Topics will include: sources
of data, index numbers, time-series analysis, correlation and regression analysis,
stepwise regression, and problems associated with the regression of time-series data.
Prerequisite: BMS 250.
