CMN 350 Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing 6 cr
Provides students the opportunity to analyze theories, concepts, research, and issues and trends in psychiatric-mental health nursing. Focus is on internal and external factors affecting the mental health of children, adolescents, adults, and families. Emphasis is on the role of the professional nurse in health promotion and maintenance, illness care, and rehabilitation of children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing psychiatric-mental health concerns. Prerequisites: AHN 230 and 231; PSY 371. Corequisite: CMN 351.

CMN 351 Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Clinical 5 cr
Clinical practice course in psychiatric-mental health nursing. Focus is on the application of theories, concepts, research, and issues and trends in psychiatric-mental health nursing. Emphasis is on the role of the professional nurse in psychiatric-mental health nursing and on the use of the nursing process with children, adolescents, adults and families experiencing psychiatric-mental health concerns. Prerequisites: AHN 230 and 231; PSY 371. Corequisite: CMN 350.

CMN 420 Aggregate Professional Nursing Care 6 cr
Provides students an in-depth exploration of community health nursing concepts and principles from an aggregate health care perspective. Focus is on the prevention of disease and the promotion of health. The changing needs of an increasingly culturally diverse population within the social context of the community are examined. Course content includes environmental, economical, political, and legal constraints to the health of aggregates. Emphasizes the use of the nursing process to assess the complex factors in the community that affect the health of aggregates. Students are guided in the study of interventions that prevent disease and promote health. Prerequisite: Admission to RN-BSN Track. Corequisite: CMN 421.

CMN 421 Aggregate Nursing Care Clinical 5 cr
Provides students an opportunity to analyze a selected community and assess the health aggregates. Students will apply the nursing process to identify factors within communities that influence the health of aggregates. Students investigate and evaluate resources which support disease prevention and health promotion. Prerequisite: Admission to RN-BSN Track. Corequisite: CMN 420.

CMN 524 Community/Psychiatric-Mental Health 5 cr
Clinical Nurse Specialist Internship Students negotiate and fulfill contracts for CNS internship learning experiences in community/psychiatric-mental health nursing. Leader, caregiver, manager, consultant, educator, and researcher roles are integrated into selected areas of specialized clinical nursing practice based on an organizing framework and facilitated by faculty and preceptors. Prerequisites: NU 523, NU 508.

CMN 530 Advanced Community/ 3 cr
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing I Focus is on advanced community/psychiatric-mental health nursing practice roles with family systems. The emphasis is on the integration of advanced knowledge and theories from nursing and related disciplines as a framework for advanced nursing practice with family systems. Prerequisite: NU 506. Corequisite: CMN 531.

CMN 531 Advanced Community/ 3 cr
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practicum I Focus is on the application of selected frameworks for advanced nursing practice with family systems. The emphasis is on advanced nursing practice roles with family systems in the community. Prerequisite: NU 506. Corequisites: CMN 530.

CMN 532 Advanced Community/ 3 cr
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing II Focus is on advanced community/psychiatric-mental health nursing practice with community systems. Emphasis is on the integration of advanced knowledge and theories from nursing and related disciplines as a framework for advanced community mental health nursing practice with community systems. Prerequisite: NU 506. Corequisite: CMN 533.

CMN 533 Advanced Community/ 3 cr
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practicum II Focus is on the application of selected frameworks for advanced community/psychiatric-mental health nursing practice with community systems. The emphasis is on advanced nursing practice roles with community systems. Prerequisite: NU 506. Corequisite: CMN 532.

CMN 568 Advanced Nursing Assessment of 3 cr
Children, Adults, and Families Development of the ability to obtain comprehensive health histories and perform assessments of children, adults, and families. Focus is also on episodic histories, assessments, and analysis of diagnostic data. Course integrates theory and physiology into a beginning application of critical thinking and decision making in diagnosing. Prerequisite: Admission to the Family Nurse Practitioner option. Corequisite: CMN 569.

CMN 569 Advanced Nursing Assessment of 1 cr
Children, Adults and Families Practicum Provides a variety of clinical practice opportunities for students to obtain comprehensive health histories, perform assessments of children, adults, and families, and to analyze diagnostic data. Focus on interpretation of findings and differential diagnosis. Prerequisite: Admission to the Family Nurse Practitioner option. Corequisite: CMN 568.

CMN 570 Primary Care in Family Nursing I 4 cr
Introduces the student to family nurse practitioner roles. Issues and trends in primary care and the nurse practitioner contributions to wellness and health care for the rural family and families of culture, ethic, and/or racial minority are analyzed. Course focuses on comprehensive health, functional, and family assessments. A major focus of the course is on the family assessment and intervention skills and the development of a nursing framework for managing the health care of the child-bearing family. Prerequisite: NU 506. Corequisite: CMN 571.

CMN 571 Primary Care in Family Nursing I Practicum 2 cr
Provides clinical practice opportunities for students to explore community-based resources for individuals and families, to practice health assessment skills, to develop therapeutic nursing management protocols for health promotion and maintenance. A major focus will be on the care of the child-bearing family and well infants. Prerequisite: NU 506. Corequisite: CMN 570.

CMN 572 Primary Care in Family Nursing II 3 cr
Focuses on the family nurse practitioner management of individuals and families of all ages with common self-limiting health care management problems related to the eyes, ears, nose, sinus, oropharynx, integumentary system, gastrointestinal system, immune system, genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system, and communicable diseases. Emphasis is placed on the pathophysiology underlying the health problem, epidemiology, assessment (including diagnostic tests), and nursing management with common and self-limiting health care problems. Prerequisites: CMN 570, CMN 571. Corequisite: CMN 573.

CMN 573 Primary Care in Family Nursing II Practicum 4 cr
Focus on advanced practice with individuals and families having common self-limiting health care problems related to eyes, ears, nose, sinus, oropharynx, integumentary system, gastrointestinal system, immune system, genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system, and communicable diseases. Prerequisites: CMN 570, CMN 571. Corequisites: CMN 572.

CMN 574 Primary Care in Family Nursing III 3 cr
Builds on previous courses and focuses on current theory, research, and clinical management of individuals and families of all ages with acute, chronic, and long-term health care problems related to the cardiovascular system, pulmonary system, neurological system, immune system (HIV), and endocrine system. Emphasis is on the nurse practitioner role, epidemiology, pathophysiology, assessments, diagnosis, therapeutic management, rehabilitation, and evaluation of individuals and families with acute, chronic, and long-term physical and mental health care problems. Prerequisites: CMN 572, CMN 573. Corequisite: CMN 575.

CMN 575 Primary Care in Family Nursing III Practicum 4 cr
Provides clinical practice experience for students with individuals and families experiencing acute, chronic illnesses, and long-term health care needs. Prerequisites: CMN 572, CMN 573. Corequisite: CMN 574.

CMN 576 Family Nurse Practitioner Role Internship 5 cr
Provides students a concentrated supervised clinical experience in the family nurse practitioner role. Focus is on the application of knowledge and skills acquired in all previous courses. Students will carry a patient load and will manage the care of these individuals and families. Prerequisites: CMN 574, CMN 575, CMN 580. Corequisite: CMN 577.

CMN 577 Family Nurse Practitioner Role Seminar 2 cr
Designed as a forum for students to analyze their internship experiences. Focuses on role acquisition, practice issues, case presentations, and building collaborative practices. Students will be assisted to develop a portfolio of their practice experiences during the MSN program and a resume, and to identify potential employers. Prerequisites: CMN 574, CMN 575, CMN 580. Corequisite: CMN 576.

CMN 579 Family Nurse Practitioner 1 cr
Pharmacology Seminar I Designed to provide students continued content on pharmacology. Case studies will be used to analyze the clinical application and pharmacokinetics of drugs used with individuals experiencing common self-limiting health care problems related to the eyes, ears, nose, sinus, oropharynx, integumentary system, gastrointestinal system, immune system, genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system, and communicable diseases. Prerequisite: NU 578. Corequisites: CMN 572, CMN 573.

CMN 580 Family Nurse Practitioner 1 cr
Pharmacology Seminar II Designed to provide students continued content on pharmacology. Case studies will be used to analyze the clinical applications and pharmacokinetics of drugs used with individuals experiencing acute, chronic, and long-term health care problems related to the cardiovascular system, pulmonary system, neurological system, immune system (HIV) and endocrine system. Prerequisite: CMN 579. Corequisites: CMN 574, CMN 575.
