DRA 100 Theatre Workshop: Rehearsal 2 cr each qtr
and Performance Practical experience in acting. May be repeated for a maximum of six hours. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair.

DRA 101 Theatre Workshop: 2 cr each qtr
Technical Production Practical experience in backstage work. May be repeated for a maximum of six hours. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair.

DRA 102 Theatre Workshop: Special Activities 2 cr each qtr
Practical experience in theatre areas other than acting and technical production. May be repeated for a maximum of six hours. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair.

DRA 104, 105, 106 Introduction to 4 cr each qtr
Dance I, II and III Introduction to dance theory, basic ballet, and jazz techniques, and terminology used in theatre dance. Designed to prepare the student for performance.

DRA 110 Introduction to Drama 4 cr
A basic survey of film, television, and theatre practice. Fulfills the Fine Arts requirement for Arts and Sciences.

DRA 120 Beginning Acting I 4 cr
A workshop-lecture course in which fundamentals of acting for the stage are considered from a creative as well as a practical point of view.

DRA 121 Beginning Acting II 4 cr
A continuation of Beginning Acting I, this course emphasizes the creative process involved in the analysis and vocal interpretation of roles. Prerequisite: DRA 120.

DRA 130 Stagecraft 4 cr
A lecture-laboratory course in the fundamentals of stagecraft.

DRA 131 Fundamentals of Stage Lighting 4 cr
A lecture-laboratory course in the fundamentals of stage lighting.

DRA 132 Costume Fundamentals 4 cr
A lecture-laboratory course in the fundamentals of costuming for the stage, including basic sewing skills as they apply to theatrical costumes.

DRA 204 Dance Techniques I 4 cr
A review and expansion of technique, vocabulary, and history of ballet, jazz, and theatrical dance. Prerequisites: At least two of the following: DRA 104, 105, 106, or their equivalents.

DRA 205 Dance Techniques II 4 cr
An exploration of modern dance techniques, vocabulary, and history with ballet as their basis. Prerequisites: At least two of the following: DRA 104, 105, 106, 204, or their equivalents.

DRA 206 Dance Techniques III 4 cr
A study of basic partnering techniques in ballet, jazz, theatrical, and modern dance. Prerequisites: DRA 204 or 205, or their equivalents.

DRA 210 Makeup 4 cr
A study of the materials and techniques of theatrical makeup.

DRA 220 Stage Combat 4 cr
A workshop-lecture course in basic movement skills and theatrical stage fighting techniques. Prerequisite: DRA 120.

DRA 221 Voice for Actors 4 cr
A workshop-lecture course in speaking voice and articulation for performance. Prerequisite: DRA 120.

DRA 240 Directing I 4 cr
The fundamental techniques involved in directing a stage play: analysis, casting, and blocking. Prerequisite: DRA 120.

DRA 250 Theatre Management 4 cr
A basic course in the principles of accounting, purchasing, box-office management, house management, and promotion.

DRA 261 Creative Dramatics 4 cr
A practical course concerned with improvisational acting with children. Of special interest to students in Education and Leisure Services.

DRA 290 Special Topics 4 cr
Theatre and drama topics not covered in regular curriculum. May be repeated when subject varies.

DRA 300 Theatre Practicum 12 cr
Practical experience in stock, repertory, or touring theatre. Prerequisites: Junior status, Permission of department chair.

DRA 310 Playwriting 4 cr
Studies in character, plot development, and the one-act play form. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair.

DRA 320 Advanced Acting I 4 cr
An in-depth study of character analysis and portrayal. DRA 121 and 122.

DRA 321 Advanced Acting II 4 cr
A continuation of Advanced Acting I, this course emphasizes the techniques of theatrical styles. Prerequisite: DRA 320.

DRA 330 Scene Design 4 cr
The fundamentals of scene design for the stage.

DRA 350 Theatre History I (W) 4 cr
A comprehensive study of the important contributions in theatre art from its beginnings to 1640.

DRA 351 Theatre History II (W) 4 cr
A contribution of DRA 350 from the Restoration period to the present.

DRA 352 Contemporary Drama (W) 4 cr
A seminar in the forces, trends, and developments of contemporary European and American drama.

DRA 431 Lighting Design 4 cr
The fundamentals of lighting design for the stage. Prerequisite: DRA 131.

DRA 432 Costume Design 4 cr
The fundamentals of costume design for the stage. Prerequisite: DRA 132.

DRA 460 Theatre for Youth 4 cr
The reading and production techniques of plays for children and teenagers.
DRA 480 Senior Thesis 4 cr
A report of an original artistic or scholarly project. Prerequisites: Senior status, permission of department chair.

DRA 490 Special Topics 4 cr
Various topics of special interest to students of drama. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair.

DRA 494 Directed Studies 1-4 cr
Independent study under faculty supervision, involving research, readings, or artistic projects. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair.
