MUS 201 Diction for Singers I 1 cr
The development of skills in the proper enunciation of the English
language in singing.
MUS 202 Diction for Singers II 1 cr
The development of skills in the proper enunciation of the Italian
and German languages as used in singing. Prerequisites: MUS 201.
MUS 203 Diction for Singers III 1 cr
The development of skills in the proper enunciation of the French
language as used in singing. To develop skills in singing in English with various dialects
and foreign accents. Prerequisite: MUS 201.
MUS 204 Introduction to Music Business 4 cr
A general overview of the music industry is the primary objective of
the course. Some emphasis will be placed on career options.
MUS 421 Music, Sound and Multimedia 3 cr
To familiarize students with the techniques and materials for
incorporating sound and music in the Macintosh multimedia environment. Topics to be
addressed will include making music with and without MIDI, sound resources, special
effects, commercial libraries and sounds, digital sequencing, authoring environments, and
legal issues.
MUS 422 Sequencing 3 cr
To familiarize students with professional-level music sequencing
software, hardware, and techniques. Students will gain practical skills with MIDI
recording, playback, and editing.
MUS 490 Special Topics in Music Technology 1-4 cr
To introduce students to fundamental techniques and materials for
working with studio-quality sound, hardware, and software in the Macintosh environment.
Topics will be drawn from: MIDI/music networks, graphic notation, MIDI
controllers/sequencers, sampling basics, and film and video synchronization fundamentals.
May be repeated for a maximum of 12 credits as course content varies. Prerequisites: MUS
421, MUS 422, or consent of the instructor.
MUS 521 Music, Sound and Multimedia 3 cr
To familiarize students with the techniques and materials for
incorporating sound and music into the Macintosh Multimedia environment. Topics to be
addressed include making music with and without MIDI, sound resources, special effects,
commercial libraries and sounds, Digital Sequencing, Authoring Environments, and legal
issues.
MUS 522 MIDI and MIDI Controllers 3 cr
To familiarize students with the Musical Instrument Digital
Interface Protocol and the functions of the MIDI Controllers. Prerequisites: MUS 521 or
permission of instructor.
MUS 590 Special Topics in Music Technology 1-4 cr
Special topics in Music Technology. May be repeated for a maximum of
twelve hours credit when content varies. Prerequisite: MUS 522 or consent of instructor.
