UNDERGRADUATE
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers degree programs for Elementary Education (Grades K-6), and High School. Additionally, the department offers programs for Nursery through Grade Twelve (N-12) teachers in art or music.

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION (K-6)
The program in Elementary Education is designed to prepare teachers for kindergarten through grade through six. Satisfactory completion of the program and accompanying tests lead to a recommendation for a Class B Certificate in Elementary Education. Students may also qualify for a Class B Certificate in Early Childhood Education (P-3) through appropriate internship placement.

SECONDARY EDUCATION
The Department offers degree programs to prepare high school teachers, and nursery through grade twelve (N-12) teachers in art and music.

1. HIGH SCHOOL OPTION
This option is designed to prepare students to teach in high schools.

A. PROFESSIONAL STUDIES (33 hours minimum)
EDF 315, 211, SPE 400, EDM 310, 312, or 385; EPY 455; SED 340, 341; RED 351: SED 464.

B. TEACHING FIELDS
Students must select two separate teaching fields or one Comprehensive Teaching Field. One third of the course work in each teaching field must be in the upper-division.

(a) GEOGRAPHY (33 hours required)
GEO 101, 102, 114, 115; GY 111 and 112; SED 457, and twelve (12) hours in approved upper-division GEO electives.
(b) HISTORY (33 hours required)
HY 101, 102, 103, 104, 235, 236; 477 or 478; nine (9) hours of approved upper-division HY electives.
(c) SOCIAL SCIENCE COMPOSITE (Comprehensive Teaching Field, 57 hours required). HY 101, 102, 103, 104, 235, 236, 477 or 478; PSC 130 or 232; PSC 230 or 250, or 270; SY 109; GEO 115; ECO 300; PSY 120; SED 457; and eighteen (18) hours of approved upper-division electives.

II. NURSERY THROUGH GRADE 12 OPTION
This option is designed to prepare students to teach art or music at any grade level from nursery school through grade 12.
A. HUMANISTIC AND BEHAVIORAL STUDIES (6 hours required)
EDF 315, 211, and SPE 400.
B. PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
EDM 310, 312, or 385; EPY 455; SED 340, 341; RED 351; SED 470 and required methods courses.
C. TEACHING FIELDS
(1) ART (47 hours required)
ARS 121, 122, 123, 124; AED 440, 441; Select one course from each of four studio areas (choose from painting, ceramics, printmaking, crafts, sculpture, photography, computer art, and commercial design); three art history (ARH) courses; 9 hours in upper division courses in a single studio field. (A minimum of 15 hours must be in upper-division work.)
