Mission

The mission of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs (SCESP) is to provide and support high quality lifelong learning and professional training experiences and to serve Interdisciplinary, Developmental Studies, Distance Campus, and International/Study Abroad students along the greater Gulf Coast. The SCESP encompasses multiple educational units.  These include: interdisciplinary education leading to a B.S. or B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, hospitality and tourism education leading to a a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management; college preparatory and supplemental education for domestic students or USA prospects; writing support for undergraduate/graduate students and faculty; college preparatory education for international students; international education services; and continuing and public education/professional training, both credit and non-credit that can lead to professional certification and advancement.

We know that the success of every institute of higher education is governed to a large degree by the effectiveness of its academic and professional outreach missions. We strive, every day, to exemplify and accentuate the best that the University of South Alabama has to offer. Through our various programs and course offerings, we work hard to maximize the success of our students and the broader community we serve.
