Administrative Assistant Certificate Program
 

The title of Administrative Assistant means different things to various businesses and organizations. But in general, the title implies a significant amount of responsibility. An Administrative Assistant must have the ability to assist an executive in achieving organizational objectives and fulfill additional management functions in the absence of the executive. This places a great responsibility on the Administrative Assistant and requires understanding and knowledge of management skills.

To meet the needs of this crucial role in today's organizations, the University of South Alabama School of Continuing Education has structured a Certificate Program for Administrative Assistants. This program is designed to enable individuals to perform responsibilities more effectively, as well as enhance opportunities for future advancement.

Course Curriculum
 

To complete the program, students must take twelve (12) required courses and two (2) electives. The coursework must be completed within five (5) years. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded to all program courses.

Application Information:
 

A high school diploma, GED certificate or college grade report is required for admission. To apply, send completed application form, copy of high school diploma, GED certificate or college grade report, and a $25 non-refundable application fee .

 

General Information:

 

The certificate program normally takes two years to complete depending upon the student's choice of classes and the number of classes taken. Course information is included in a non-credit catalog and distributed four terms a year. At least three or more required courses are offered each term. Registration and payment of course fees are required in advance. Many businesses provide tuition reimbursement for professional development training.

Attendance Policy:
 

Students MUST attend 80% of all class meetings within a course unless prior arrangements are made with the instructor (Maximum of 2 excused absences). For Computer courses, a maximum of one (1) excused absence is allowed.

 
Cancellation/Refunds:
 

The University of South Alabama reserves the right to cancel any courses that do not have sufficient enrollment. A full refund will be given to the registrants.

 

Failure to attend classes does not constitute withdrawal. USA Special Courses must be notified of intent to withdraw either by telephone (251) 431-6405 or in writing. If withdrawal is made one working day prior to the first class meeting, a full refund will be given
