ISD 652 Technology Based Instruction II 3 cr
This course is a continuation of ISD 651. It concentrates on the additional
skills and software necessary to develop and produce an original interactive
instructional product. Prerequisite: ISD 651
Course Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of ISD 652, Technology Based Instruction II, is to develop a professional quality instructional product. The product should have a high degree of interaction and use appropriate instructional strategies. This is accomplished by using a team-based development approach that emphasizes evaluation, revision, and “real world” implementation. Course topics include
This is a team-based course. Each class will include time for team meetings and other activities. Class meetings will be devoted to presentations by the instructor and other class participants, discussion of the readings and project assignments, and in-class exercises. Class attendance and meaningful participation are required.
Late Assignments
Late assignments will not be accepted and will receive a score of zero. All assignments are due at the beginning of the designated class period. An assignment is late if it is not turned in at 5:30 pm on the due date. Exceptions to this policy will be granted by the instructor only in the event of cataclysmic, transcendental circumstances. You must contact the instructor well before the assignment is due, or as soon as possible in the event of an emergency, in order to receive special consideration.
Incompletes
Grades of I (Incomplete) are rarely given and then only under emergency circumstances. You must contact the instructor well before the end of the semester in order to receive special consideration. You will not be given a grade of I for the purpose of having more time to complete course assignments.
Proper Academic Conduct
Students who violate University rules on proper academic conduct are subject to disciplinary penalties. Since dishonesty harms the individual, fellow students and the integrity of the University, policies on scholastic dishonesty will be strictly enforced in this course. I have a “zero tolerance” policy on academic misconduct. As such, I will aggressively pursue all appropriate penalties whenever an instance of misconduct is discovered. It is your responsibility to know the rules of proper academic conduct. If you have questions about scholastic dishonesty, please contact me or one of the other professors in the College of Education.
Responsibility in Learning
Please take advantage of my office hours to discuss class aspects that you find confusing. It is your responsibility to seek clarification or help when it is needed. If you know that you are having problems, come see me early in the semester.
Pace of the Course
This course is being held in the summer semester which has 8 weeks instead of the normal 16 for a regular semester. Because we are going to do the same amount of work as a regular semester, the pace of this course will be very fast. In effect, we will be doing twice the amount of work each week. Be prepared for a very demanding and hectic summer!
Special Needs
If you have any special needs for test taking or note taking accommodation, please feel free to come and discuss them with me. Also, be sure to register with the Student Services Office prior to contacting me. They are located in the University Center, Room 270, phone 460-7212.
