  Biographical Information  
 

Dr. Sachs has been involved in the field of special education for over thirty years. During this time he was a teacher of students with learning and behavioral disorders in public and private schools. Dr. Sachs was a principal of a residential high-school for students with Learning Disabilities. He has published articles in the major special education journals and has served as a consulting editor for the Journal of Learning Disabilities and Teacher Education and Special Education. Currently he is a Field Associate for the Journal “Beyond Behavior” and was the Co-Editor of a special issue entitled “Views from the Southeast Region. In 1996 he was awarded the Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Alabama Learning Disabilities Association. In addition, he was the Program Co-Chairperson for the First CCBD Southeast Regional Conference "Innovations in Emotional or Behavior Disorders."  Dr. Sachs helped establish and is currently the Vice-President of Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders' Foundation.
