Dr. Savan Wilson has served as a classroom teacher, a school media specialist, and a library/media supervisor in Mississippi school districts. She began her higher education career as an assistant professor, teaching school library media and technology courses in the ALA Accredited Library and Information Sciences program at the University of Southern Mississippi . She later served as Director of the Interactive Video Network and Learning Enhancement Center at USM where she received the Excellence in Librarianship Award and the Faculty Excellence Award and was a tenured, Librarian IV (Professor rank) upon retirement from that institution.
Dr. Wilson has presented numerous workshops locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally and has been a frequent consultant on school library media programs. It was through her international consulting, that she had the opportunity to serve as a school library media specialist with the Department of Defense Schools in Italy for ten years.
She began working part-time at the University of South Alabama in 2006 and became full-time faculty in 2008. |
