Army ROTC is a program that provides college students the skills and leadership training to become officers in the United States Active Army, Army Reserves, and National Guard (over 75% of all Army officers are commissioned through ROTC). An Army officer is a prestigious professional who serves as a leader of the most respected institution in America.
Army ROTC also is a college elective you can try out for up to two years with no obligation. Unlike traditional college programs, Army ROTC gives you a wide range of experiences while you work toward a degree. You will combine classroom time with hands-on experience, learning skills that are sure to give you an edge over your peers when it comes time to look for a job. Whether you are planning a career in the Army or the corporate world, Army ROTC teaches you how to be a leader and is a smart elective course to take.
The academic program which ROTC provides challenges students to develop the responsibility, self-confidence, and leadership ability necessary to be successful, not only in the military, but in the civilian sector as well. The program emphasizes academic excellence, physical training, written and oral communication, as well as ethics to develop all facets of an individual. Qualified cadets have the opportunity to attend U.S. Army Airborne, Air Assault, Northern Warfare, and Mountain Warfare Schools in the summer.
We are a people oriented organization. Consequently, leadership and management skills are essential in our training program. ROTC provides you the opportunity to become a college-educated leader and manager. That is how you get the edge over everyone else regardless of your chosen walk of life. If you decide to move on after a few years and pursue another profession your peers will all admire, even envy your exposure, work and travel experience. Trust me, whatever you decide, the experience you will gain from ROTC and the Army will give you the confidence you need to be a success in college and beyond. You will have the edge because employers respect the leadership and management training and experience officers receive in the United State Army -- Believe it!
