Welcome to Gender Studies
Our program offers a wide range of courses representing a variety of different academic
disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Students taking
these courses can build an interdisciplinary minor in Gender Studies. We also offer
internships within the community where students can take what they learn in the classroom
and apply it while working in a variety of non-profit and grassroots organizations.
With a dedicated faculty whose research and teaching interests are focused on issues
related to gender and its construction in both historical and contemporary contexts,
Gender Studies is the perfect complement to any major. Seeing the world through the
prism of gender and how gender intersects with race, class, ethnicity, and sexuality
allows students to gain a broader and deeper understanding of cultures and societies.
This knowledge, as well as the skills gained through taking Gender Studies courses or pursuing a minor, can provide an excellent foundation for careers in a variety of fields such as education, social work, medicine, business, law, non-profits, and government. We invite you to explore this website and learn more about our courses, our faculty and their research, our minor, and local and national resources for more effective community building and positive social change.
