Guidelines for Talks

Secondary banner

An oral presentation (talk) provides an opportunity to present your work to a larger audience, and to invite discussion which could, in turn, propel your research further. The necessity of a time limit also focuses only the most salient highlights of your work.

Time limits for APS talks:

All speakers are expected to adhere strictly to the time limit, as directed by the session chair.

For invited talks: 36 minutes total = 30 minutes talk + 6 minutes for questions.

For contributed talks: 12 minutes total = 10 minutes talk + 2 minutes for questions.

Such adherence could be greatly facilitated by preparing and rehearsing in advance. For further guidelines, click here.
