Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Green’s teaching philosophy is to utilize her multidisciplinary academic background to develop interdisciplinary pedagogies that provide her students with career and life competencies for sustainable employment, local and global leadership, and engaged citizenry.
Research 
Dr. Green’s research interests focus on student learning success through business-education partnerships and employee volunteerism; and best academic and instructional design practices for developing and preparing a workplace-ready workforce for the hospitality and tourism industry.
Outreach
Dr. Green’s outreach activities focus on service culture training and building business-education partnerships that result in innovative learning and workforce solutions for the hospitality and tourism industry.
Biography
Dr. Green holds a B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, an M.B.A. with a marketing emphasis, an M.S. in Instructional Technology, and a Ph.D. in Human Capital Development from The University of Southern Mississippi (Southern Miss). She started her career in hospitality as a sales executive with the Kuala Lumpur Hilton International, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the completion of her internship with Inn Serve Corporation’s Holiday Inn property in Vicksburg, Mississippi, she assumed the role of Resident Manager at their high-rise Holiday Inn property in Miami, Florida. Dr. Green left the private industry and returned to Southern Miss where she spent 25 years, primarily working in campus recreation and casino, hospitality and tourism management instruction. Using her hospitality and marketing knowledge, Dr. Green pioneered the field of campus recreation marketing and received the National Intramural-Recreational Sports (NIRSA) National Award for her contribution. Dr. Green developed a business-education partnership instructional model, iPASS® (Industry Professionals Assistance in Students' Success) for Southern Miss’ casino management program and online certification. When she retired in 2015, Dr. Green joined the William. F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Singapore campus as a Faculty-in-Residence. She returned to the U.S. in August 2015 to help the University of South Alabama (South) establish and grow its Hospitality and Tourism Management program. In March, 2017, Dr. Green organized South’s inaugural Hospitality & Tourism Workforce Summit in which public and private stakeholders from coastal Mississippi, Alabama and Florida’s hospitality, tourism and casino gaming industry convened to discuss sustainable workforce issues and solutions.
