Teaching Assignments

As program coordinator for the Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program, I continually assess the effectiveness of teaching and learning activities in the ACNP courses as well as assess and assist in ongoing development of the ACNP program, making necessary revisions as needed. A big project was developing the program to go on-line in the Fall 2005.  We have evolved so much since 2005. Along with adding video lectures, I also integrated many creative, innovative activities utilizing virtual simulation in the on- line class room.  This has been a positive addition to enhance the students’ history taking skills, physical examination skills, critical thinking, and diagnostic reasoning skills. As coordinator, I continue to revise and strengthen content to reflect changing health care needs and prepare students for certification which has resulted in pass rates of 100%. As Program Coordinator, I facilitate progression of students through the master’s and doctorate  program, advise ACNP students, and recruit/introduce prospective students to the ACNP program.

As Associate Professor, I am responsible for teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels, performing clinical practice, DNP project advisor, student advising, course development and refinement, and scholarship. My responsibilities also include serving as the Project Director of the HRSA-funded Online DNP program for the Adult-Geron Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) program. As Project Director, I oversee course development, faculty assignments, project budgets, and student advising related to the ACNP program.   I also serve on College and University committees as assigned.
