Currently, she is the Assistant Director in the Center for Real Estate and Economic Development (CREED) at the University of South Alabama. In this role, while overseeing Center’s daily operations, she works to position CREED into Gulf Coast’s go-to resource for business research and consulting. Jana implements new data visualization tools and manages projects that broaden Center’s capabilities and enable new services to be provided to the business community. In addition, she participates in various research and consulting projects conducted by Center’s staff, coordinates Center’s educational events and supports its existing and new outreach efforts, including the newly-introduced personal finance seminars for students.
Previously, she was the Senior Project Manager in the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Department. While in this role, she generated and managed prospect inquires resulting in total 1,400+ jobs and $700+ million in capital investments for Mobile County. Jana worked strategically with local and state economic development partners to identify and recommend site locations, business advantages and workforce availability.
Prior to joining the Mobile Area Chamber, Stupavsky spent nearly 10 years in various roles with the Mobile Airport Authority’s (MAA) Marketing Department. There she initially focused on recruiting air service, followed by marketing and economic development for Mobile's prime industrial property, now known as Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley.
Her last 18 months with MAA, she supported their marketing and business development efforts in Europe, while based in Slovenia. During that time, Stupavsky worked with both MAA and the Chamber on several aerospace projects, including France-based Airbus that located a final assembly facility in Mobile.
In addition to English, she speaks Czech, Croatian, German, Slovak and Swedish. Stupavsky holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing-International Business and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama.
