Dr. Clark Wins Dr. Glenn Sebastian’s Faculty of the Year Award

 

On April 24, 2017, Dr. Sonya Clark, Director of the MCOB Professional Readiness Engagement Program, was awarded the Dr. Glenn Sebastian’s Faculty of the Year Award by the USA Student Government Association.  Each year Senators nominate faculty members they believe are deserving of the award.  The Senators nominating the faculty members write summaries supporting their nominations, then all senators read the nominations and cast their votes.

Dr. Glenn Sebastian, a University Professor Emeritus joined the USA faculty in 1967 and retired in 2006. Dr. Glenn Sebastian served 25 years as Chair of Earth Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. His enthusiasm for teaching and love for the students earned him a wide range of accolades, including the Outstanding Professor and Distinguished Service awards from the USA National Alumni Association and the Excellence in Teaching and Service awards from the College of Arts and Sciences. He was also very active in Greek life at South Alabama. He served as the chapter advisor of the Nu Mu chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon for many years. A former National Park Service Ranger, he has utilized the campus nature trails, named after him, throughout the years by taking University students as well as civic and other community groups on short field trips through the area.
