Flute Choir & Celtic Crúe Spring Concert

The University of South Alabama Flute Choir and Celtic Crúe, directed by Dr. Andra Bohnet, will present their Spring Concert on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The evening has a British theme as the Flute Choir will perform music by Ralph Vaughan-Williams, John Rutter, Percy Grainger and Gustav Holst in addition to “Scenes of England” by Sonny Burnette.

After a brief intermission, the Celtic Crúe will present four new sets of Irish traditional music performed on simple system Irish style flutes. This is the only ensemble at the collegiate level in the country that combines traditional instruments and culturally appropriate instrumental techniques with a flute choir like sensibility. On their final set they will be joined by the USA World Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Luis Rivera.

Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only.  Admission is $8 general and $5 for USA faculty & staff, USA students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only).  Persons needing more information about this event or in need of special accommodation may call (251) 460-7116 or (251) 460-6136.
