Flutist Andra Bohnet will be joined by Katie Ott, principal harpist of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, in a concert of all French music on Tuesday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the USA Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Flutist Travis Jones, a member of both the USA faculty and MSO, will also be performing.

The French composers were the first to recognize the scintillating and magical colors that this instrumental combination could produce, both in the orchestral setting as well as in chamber music. This program will include works by Jacques Ibert, Bernard Andrés, Philippe Gaubert, Pierre Max Dubois, Claude Debussy, and conclude with the magnificent sonata by Jean-Michel Damase.

Andra is Professor of Flute at USA and principal flutist of the Mobile Symphony. She and Katie were featured soloists with the orchestra in Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto in 2011 and in they have performed as a duo on many occasions. Katie also serves as principal harpist with the Pensacola and Northwest Florida Symphonies in addition to her position with the MSO. Travis holds the position of second flute with the MSO and is principal flutist with the 5th Avenue Chamber Orchestra (Naples, FL) and was recently appointed to the Seoul International Community Orchestra for a series of concerts in September 2017.
