Guest Artist Micheal Morton, flutist, will present a recital on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the USA Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. His concert will feature a variety of styles of music including some of his own compositions.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he attended the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University during his high school years. He studied jazz at Berklee College of Music in Boston and classical performance at the University of Memphis and Chapman University where he received a Bachelor of Music degree. He earned his masters degree in flute performance from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. Michael’s principal teachers were Jim Walker (USC), Arthur Hoberman (Chapman), Bruce Erskine (UM) and Jane Kirchner (Blair).

Michael has been a member of the Auria Trio, the Los Angeles Flute Orchestra and principal flutist with the Southeast Symphony in Los Angeles. He has performed with or done recordings for Placido Domingo, Whitney Houston, Terrence Howard, Spike Lee, Terence Blanchard, Disney studios, Sony and Warner Brothers studios. Currently, he is a freelance flutist, recording artist and teacher in Nashville.

Tickets for this Musical Arts Series concert will be sold at the door only. Admission is $8 general and $5 for USA faculty & staff, USA students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only). Musical Arts Series season passes will of course be honored for admission to this event.
