The name of this organization shall be Comrades of Courage. The group shall also be known as the C O C

Article 2 Purpose
This organization’s primary purpose will be to promote disability awareness on the USA campus and to support our fellow students challenged with special needs—whether the disability is mental, physical, or emotional. Our support will at times extend into the classroom and onto the campus to facilitate an individual’s academic success at South Alabama and improve the self reliance and independence of our members.
In addition to the above mission statement the organization will also work hand in hand with University administration regarding campus accessibility issues. The group will monitor ADA compliance matters at the University to assist USA in becoming a “Barrier-Free” environment for all students

Article 3 Membership
Membership to this organization is open to all students, staff, and adminstration of the University of South Alabama. We also warmly welcome members from outside of the university to participate in Comrades Of Courage.

Article 4 Elections
The selection of executive members shall be by appointment for the first two years (2005 & 2006), thereafter elections will be held each year in the spring semester.

Article 5 The Executive Council (EC)
The EC shall consist of a President, Vice-President, and a Financial Director. Each EC member will carry out the duties of their respective office; uphold and follow the Comrades of Courage constitution and any laws or amendments to said constitution; the EC shall keep the other members of the organization informed on all matters concerning the C O C.

Article 6 EC Officer Dismissal
Any officer unable to perform his or her duties, or who misses two EC meetings without just cause will be dismissed and the president will appoint a member to this position until the spring elections.

Article 7 EC Meetings
Organization meetings shall be held on a twice a month basis. The officers will meet weekly or as needed to discuss ongoing projects and issues

Article 8 Dues
There shall be an annual $10.00 (ten dollar) membership fee due to be paid within one-month after joining the organization. Annual dues will be collected at the anniversary of the member’s joining date.

Article 9 Amendments:
The constitution may be amended as follows:

The membership fee may be raised if needed

The president may appoint a temporary officer to any position if a current officer can not fulfill his or her obligations.

Meetings may be held more or less frequenlty based on necessity.

The executive council ma amend the constitution in any manner they see fit a 2/3rds majority of the body of the C O C
