Mr. Paul McGowan's Testimony

An image of Paul McGowan, the president of the C O CI have a vision for C O C and U S A, that together we can make this great University into a Barrier-Free institution.  I want the physical, social, and mental barriers that hold back students at South Alabama to be abolished and replaced with support, friendship, and academic excellence. This vision can and will be accomplished through the dedicated work of Comrades of Courage and the University of South Alabama.

Heather Shapiro's Testimony

An image of Heather Shapiro, a member of C O C

C O C for me means change and not just for students with disabilities but for the entire university. This is a much needed change. With the support of its members we can all be a link in the Chain Of Change. This organization has given me a cause to champion and I am proud to say that I have helped make great strides in the improvement of our university. The Comrades of Courage Orgainzation is extremely important on campus because it is not only about people with disabilities but it helps those without disabilities as well to understand what difficulties those with disabilities have. When you talk to them you find about what kind of disabilities they have or how they are impaired and how can you can help others who you might do not even know about. People in the Comrades of Courage are so friendly and it is so fun to hang around with. Joining the C O C is very beneficial. It makes you realize that it is not because these people have some kind of disabilities, they are not capable of have fun or accompishing their goals at schools. It also makes you realize that they function at the same level as normal people.

Dezman Jackson's Testimony

An Image of Dazmen Jackson, Member of C O CWhat Comrades of Courage Means to Me: Common sense tells us that affective change comes about when the beneficiaries of that change are involved in the process. Comrades Of Courage embodies this concept through its leadership, its membership, and most importantly, its actions.  As a student at South Alabama, C O C has been to me the voice of those who are disabled or those who otherwise fall into minority group status.  The force of this organization is felt in various campus activities from advocating for wheel chair access to buildings and encouraging accessible web design, to showcasing positive images and recognizing willing cooperation for our cause. I see the Comrades of Courage as a group of friends who are committed to make a differnece and some changes for the good. The Comrades of Courage gives those who are overlooked at that time a voice to represent themselves and announce their problems to those who do not know. There are a lot of great people in this organization. You need to come and join to see how wonderful and helpful they are.

Mr. Dirisu Musa's Testimony

An image of Musa Dirisa, a member of C O C My name is Dirisu Musa, senior student, U S A College of Nursing. I like to express my profound gratitude to Comrades of Courage (C O C). This organization has been very helpful to me especially when the College of Nursing fraudulently and discriminatory charged me with academic misconduct. C O C was there for me when I needed help. The Comrades of Courage has been very inspirational and motivating in making sure that students with disabilities at the University of South Alabama are treated fairly. C O C made me what I am today. God bless C O C.

Mr. Aaron Bryant's Testimony

An Image of Aeron Bryant, a member of C O CI’ve seen wonderful changes for everyone on the campus of South Alabama! Changes like new bathrooms, automatic doors, sidewalks, and cut-downs. C O C for me is really about camaraderie and mutual support; members really help each other out both in and out the classroom every day. It’s an organization you should really think about becoming a part of today!
