Installing Symantec Antivirus on your Apple Macintosh
The installation file for the Apple Macintosh computer is in zip format. After the file is downloaded it will automatically unzip and install itself. Follow
the instructions selecting all defaults. Select managing the antivirus program yourself.
After the antivirus program has been installed, open the Application folder and open the Symantec Systems sub-folder.
Start the Symantec Scheduler. Click the New button and create a weekly virus scan.
Give it a name that identifies it to you, such as "Monday scan"
For "Select an item to scan" use the Browse button and choose Macintosh HD
For "Frequency" choose "Weekly" and pick a day when the computer will be powered on
Set the time of day to a convenient time when it will not likely interfere with your work
Save it
Click the New button and create a daily Product Update.
Give it a name that identifies it to you, such as "Live Update"
Set the Frequency to "Daily"
Set the time to early morning when the computer will be on
Save it
Exit the Symantec Scheduler
In the Symantec Solutions Folder, choose Live Update and click on "Update Everything Now."
When the above has completed Symantec is ready to monitor your system.
