Academic Computing will conduct the following series of faculty/staff computer workshops throughout Fall 2008. All classes will be held in the Seminar Room at the Computer Services Center and advanced registration is required. Banner General Navigation class

This course presents the basic Banner interface and essential functions. You will learn the Banner naming conventions for forms, tables, jobs, and reports; proper navigating techniques, setting search parameters in queries, and editing information in forms. This is hands-on training in general navigation through Banner 7.4. Pre-requisites: none.

Introduction to Banner Reports

This course introduces you to the Banner Reports interface and options. You will learn to set up report parameters, save parameter sets, run, preview, save, print, and electronically distribute Banner reports. This is hands-on training in Banner 7.4. Pre-requisites: Banner General Navigation class.

Managing Your GroupWise E-mail Account

This course outlines essential procedures for maintaining your email account. You will learn how to change your password, view and save your messages, sort them by date or subject, forward them to other recipients or send images, spreadsheets, and other files as attachments to your email messages. You will learn how to search for a particular email by setting up filters and how to archive messages for later use. Pre-requisites: none.

GroupWise Calendars & Collaboration Features

This class introduces built-in GroupWise calendars and shows how to use them for effective collaboration on group projects and meeting management. You will learn how to invite people to meetings, set up tasks and appointments, and specify advanced attributes for your messages (delayed delivery, expiration date, notification, etc.). You will also learn to set up an auto-reply and to schedule recurring events. Pre-requisites: Must have attended "E-mail: GroupWise 7.0" class or have a working knowledge of GroupWise.

Formulae and Functions in Excel

This intermediate course focuses on formulas and functions in Excel. You will learn to use Relative, Absolute, and Mixed References and 3-D addresses. You will also explore most common functions like AutoSum, CountIF, and LookUp. Finally, you will learn how to create and edit Charts and how to use Styles, Page Breaks and Print options. Pre-requisites: Must have working knowledge of Excel XP or have attended "Microsoft Excel XP - Part I" class in Spring 2008.

Mail Merge in Word

This course explores Microsoft Word's Mail Merge function. You will learn to create a merge document (usually form letter) and "merge" it with your data source document (mailing list) to create individualized output. Come learn techniques that will help you handle your mass mailings more easily and save you lots of time and frustration. Pre-requisites: working knowledge of Word and/or Excel.
