Dependent Policy (age 15 and under)

  1. All children who use Campus Recreation and Wellness facilities, including the outdoor pool, must have an active membership regardless of age. Parents have the option of purchasing a year-round dependent membership or a summer-only membership. Please contact our membership coordinator at 251-460-6293 for more information.

  2. Members who wish to bring a guest child to the outdoor pool will pay the regular guest fee of $10/child/day at the front desk. Please see our current guest policy for number of guests allowed.

  3. Children are limited to dependent hours. These hours will be extended in summer semester and winter holidays. Please see our hours of operation and dependent levels of access for the extended hours and more information.

  4. Per Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness policy, children age 15 and under must be directly supervised by parents. Direct supervision is defined as parent or guardian no farther than 20 feet apart and actively participating in the same activity as the child. Based on a child’s swimming ability, the parent may be required to be closer than 20 feet while in the pool.

  5. Children age 15 and under may not swim or be in any area of the pool deck during non-dependent hours unless taking a group or private swim lesson. Siblings age 15 and under who are present, but not participating in the swim lesson must remain on the deck and may not use the pool during non-dependent hours.

  6. All non-swimmers age 15 and under must wear a life jacket.

  7. The hot tub may be used by children age 12 and up with direct parental supervision.
  8. Children age 6 and over are not allowed in the locker room of the opposite gender. Families may use the gender-neutral family locker room.
