Marx Library Meeting Rooms

The Marx Library has three meeting rooms and an auditorium available for public use by local organizations. These rooms can be reserved by university-affiliated and non-affiliated groups. These rooms may not be reserved for regularly scheduled classes or ongoing meetings. The library's workstations, computer lab, and classroom cannot be reserved as these are required for the library's daily core services.

Rooms are booked using the university's online event room booking system.

Please make sure the facilities are available for your specific time by checking the Library Events schedule. 

Room 123

Room 123 seats up to 12 people. It has a whiteboard and wireless Internet, but no media equipment. It may be reserved for up to three hours.

Room 171

Room 171 seats up to 30 people in theater style seating or 20 people as a small conference or training room. Equipment fees for weekend and after business hours use may apply to your group The room has a viewing screen and white board and can be set up with a LCD projector and computer, and VHS/DVD player. Prior approval by the Head of Circulation Services is required to reserve Room 171. There is a three hour maximum for this room. 

Room 181

Meeting room 181 can seat up to 60 people. It has a viewing screen and white board and is equipped with a LCD projector and VHS/DVD player. The room can also be used to view video conferences. Equipment fees for weekend and after business hours use may apply to your group. The room can be arranged in either theater or classroom set up. This is the only room within the library that can be used to serve refreshments. Additional media is available upon request. Prior approval by the Head of Circulation Services is required to reserve Room 181. There is a three hour maximum for this room. 

Auditorium

The library auditorium seats 124 people and four people who use wheelchairs. It is equipped with a LCD projector, computer, VHS and DVD player, and image projector. The auditorium also has a satellite connection for the viewing of video conferences. The auditorium has a quality sound system and adjustable lighting. Equipment fees for weekend and after business hours use may apply to your group. All organizations not affiliated with the university will be charged an hourly fee to use the auditorium. No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium. If you wish to serve refreshments please reserve both the auditorium and room 181. Requests to reserve the auditorium should be made at least two weeks prior to the event and must be approved by the Dean of University Libraries.

Fees

The purpose of this policy is to clarify use policies and fee schedules for University affiliated and non-affiliated organizations or groups. The policy covers the use of the Auditorium, Room 181, Room 171, and Room 123 in the Marx Library.

University Affiliated Organizations

It is the policy of the University Library NOT to charge room or equipment fees to university affiliated organizations. However, Circulation Services will normally require at least one member of the organization to become familiar with light and equipment controls.

A fee of $25.00 per hour will be charged to University affiliated organizations using audiovisual equipment during evening hours (after 5:00 p.m.) and weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday) to recover costs when an IMC technical staff must be present to set up, familiarize, take down and trouble shoot audiovisual equipment.

University affiliated organizations requesting that a Circulation Services staff member provide technical assistance with audiovisual equipment that is beyond initial setting up and taking down of equipment, familiarization training, and trouble shooting will be charged $25.00 per hour.

Non-University Affiliated Organizations

Fees are required to cover the cost of the technical person who must be present to set up, familiarize, take down and trouble shoot audiovisual equipment as follows:

Room Fee: $25.00

Equipment fee: $25.00/hour during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday –Friday)
$50.00/hour during evening hours (after 5:00 p.m.) and weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday).
