National Pan Hellenic Council
On May 10, 1930, on the campus of Howard University, in Washington DC, the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was formed as a permanent organization to govern and promote interaction amongst the NPHC Greek organizations.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc., is currently composed of nine (9) International Greek Letter Sororities and Fraternities (Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho, Sororities, and Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta, Fraternities).
In June 1996 the National Pan- Hellenic Council was chartered here at the University of South Alabama to promote interaction through forums, meetings, cooperative programming and civic engagement.
Currently here at the University of South Alabama, NPHC consist of Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho.
