Maria Papp


Maria Papp, who was born in Argentina, has been an interpreter/translator in the Mobile and Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay area since 1968.  She has extensive experience in bilingual education, from early childhood to adult level.  Since 1982, she has worked as a freelance interpreter for the United States District Court and Southern District of Alabama.  Her bilingual knowledge covers the simple stages of interrogation to more elaborate legal situations, including civil and criminal law, social services, labor relations, depositions, etc.

Marie-Helene Hickman rev


Marie-Hèléne Hickman, was born in Brunoy, France, a suburb of Paris. 

College Education:
After she received her Bachelor’s degree in France, she moved to the United States when she was 22 years old. 

Experience in language instruction/translation/interpretation: 
During her career, she has taught every level and age group in academia, and is also a private tutor for businesses and individuals.  In addition to many of her teaching positions, she was an Adjunct Professor at Auburn University and Alabama State University, both in Montgomery, and Corpus Christi School in Mobile.  Returning to France frequently, she has been an educational tour guide there for the past thirty years.



Jere Trigg African Violet Instructor          GROWING AFRICAN VIOLET INSTRUCTOR

          Jere Trigg was born in Mobile, Alabama.  He worked for the UOP Molecular Sieve Manufacturing           Plant in a number of engineering positions and most recently served as the Health, Safety, and             Environmental Manager until the time of his retirement in 2009.  Since his retirement he has                 developed an interest in African Violet hybridization which involves cross pollinating two                     flowers with the goal of producing new and improved flower colors and patterns in the resulting           seedlings. He has produced hundreds of seedlings from his crosses and has donated many of                                                   them to senior centers, hospice care, nursing homes, and charitable fund raising events.

                                            College Education:

                                            Graduated from the University of South Alabama with B.S. degrees in Biology in 1969 and                                                       Chemical Engineering in 1975. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Engineering from West                                                       Virginia University in 1971.


                                            Proud member, African Violet Society of America and Baldwin County Master Gardeners.                                                           Volunteer, the Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau and has given many presentations on African                                               Violets to numerous Garden Clubs in the local area.
