Dr Leon Van Dyke
Leon J. Van Dyke (Ph.D. - Wayne State University). Lee has served as chair for theatre departments in Virginia as well as Michigan and Wisconsin, before arriving to head theatre at the University of South Alabama. He is an experienced professional director who counts having been an exchange professor in Nigeria as one of his kudos. Lee has helped administer grants from the Palmer Foundation as well as those connected to federal H.U.D funds dedicated to developing drama with children. He has also had experience in television, garnering an Emmy Nomination in Chicago and was a visiting professor in the broadcasting department at San Francisco State University. He’s also had a special interest in improvisation, the very heart of what is arguably one of the most useful techniques for working with actors that comes out of Chicago. He was a longtime member of the selection committee for ACTF’s Region III.
