JagSki

The JagSki is a personal watercraft (PWC)-based system used in the collection of hydrographic data such as bathymetry, currents, flow, discharge, and sediment transport.

If you have a project that requires accurate, high resolution bathymetry and flow data in shallow and/or environmentally sensitive areas, please contact us here.

Equipment

Updates

  • 28 July 2009 - The JagSki should be collecting data in the coming weeks. After a number of delays during production/manufacturing of various components, we are just days away from having the entire system operational. We have a few cable splices to complete before we can take the show on the road, but other than that we are pretty much ready to roll. I'll be conducting sea trials on Mobile Bay to ensure that the ski is running well, and also to learn its quirks, which all boats have.

  • 02 April 2009 - We are making some progress on this project now. Our new SonTek M9 arrived last week, and fabrication is underway for the racks, ADP mount, and display mount. We were able to get the "okay" from our risk management officer, and the AL vessel registration decals just arrived in the mail. Next up, waiting on the waterproof cables and connectors. With any luck at all, we will have this thing in the water by Memorial Day!

  • 03 February 2009 - Finally, we have taken delivery of all major project equipment with the exception of our SonTek Echosounder/ADP. Below are photos of the Kawasaki Ultra LX personal watercraft ("JagSki"), and the Kawasaki Mule 3010 4x4, that we received earlier this afternoon.

  • 31 October 2008 - All bids and quotes on major equipment have been submitted and or received. We should be taking delivery of system components during the month of November. Fabrication of frames and the layout of electrical systems will begin in December.
