THE
MASTER’S PROGRAM - COMPREHENSIVE
EXAMINATION
The
comprehensive examination is
required of all MS students in
Mechanical Engineering.
Students must show
competence in four of the
following areas:
Advanced
Fluid Mechanics, Conduction Heat
Transfer, Classical
Thermodynamics, Compressible Fluid
Flow, Finite Element Analysis,
Advanced Engineering Dynamics,
Advanced Vibrations, Applied
Elasticity, Mathematics.
The
comprehensive examination is given
twice a year in the fall and
spring.
Students will have two
opportunities to pass the
comprehensive examination.
Students
failing this examination may try a
second time not sooner than 12
weeks after the first attempt.
Students failing the second time
will be academically dismissed
from the program.
