FICA Refund for Medical Residents

Important Information/Dates


Consent Forms
The University filed the FICA refund claim in January, 2011. No new consent forms are being accepted.


Refund Checks
All group refund checks have now been received from the IRS. Our goal is to have all individual refund checks to former residents and fellows mailed within 10 business days. A list of the interest rates paid by the IRS on refunds is available here.

Address Changes
Refunds will be mailed to the address we have on file for you. If you have an address change prior to receiving your refund, email the address change to

  • Packets mailed to individuals - November 1, 2010
  • Signed consent forms deadline- recieved by the University no later than December 16, 2010
  • Consolidated claim filed with Internal Revenue Service - January, 2011
  • Email questions to: residents12@usouthal.edu
  • Donation of refunds to the University- It is possible to donate some or all of your refund to the University. Whether your gift is used to support student scholarships, fund equipment/technology upgrades, create a named endowment, or provide funding for research, you can take pride in knowing your gift will have a lasting, positive impact for many generations to come.
