What Is Actively Being Discussed?

Last Update: June 16, 2000

In discussions on May 17, 2000 with Faculty Senate chair Dr. Dan Rogers, Senior Vice-President Dr. Pat Covey

1. revealed that the principle of having Faculty Senators in attendance at chairs' meetings had worked well in at least one college, but that other colleges' chairs had expressed reluctance to lose the ability to discuss issues fully and openly among themselves. Dr. Covey and the Senate are continuing to explore ways to insure the fullest possible exchange of information and perspectives at the college and university level.

2. suggested regular meetings between the Senate Executive Committee and the USA Council of Deans, although the ad hoc committee's report suggested actual faculty participation at Council of Deans' meetings. Discussions on this issue will continue.

At his meeting with the Senate Executive Committee on June 13, 2000, Mr. Moulton

3. agreed to continue discussing faculty evaluations of academic administrators

4. discussed the formulation of academic policies and suggested streamlining the number of committees involved in policy formulation
