The Birth Defects Genetics Center and its regional clinics provide services for families residing in South Alabama, West Florida and Mississippi.

Clinical programs with special emphasis in Mental Retardation, Neurofibromatosis, Syndromes (Turner, Down, Williams, Marfan, Fetal Alcohol, Fragile-X) and genetic disorders (Ehlers Danlos, Achondroplasia, Osteogenesis imperfecta).
 

What we do :

  • We provide unique medical services in our region (Mississippi, South Alabama, Georgia, Florida).

  • We perform prenatal diagnosis (amniocentesis).

  • We offer complete and comprehensive genetic clinical and laboratory services.

  • We provide genetic counseling on the basis of family history, or as a result of laboratory findings.

  • We provide educational information and materials for patients and health care professionals.

  • University based and research oriented, our Center keeps abreast of the latest advances in genetics.

  • Above all else, we stress the personal touch in providing for patients and health care providers.
