Specimen Requirements: Draw 20-30 cc
amniotic fluid using sterile technique. Discard first 2 ml of aspirate
to reduce risk of maternal cell contamination. Aseptically distribute
specimen into two sterile non-toxic culture tubes: Label with: (1)
patient's name; (2) gestational age: (3) doctor's name; (4) date
and time drawn. Maintain specimen at room temperature (avoid extremes
of heat or cold).
Turn Around Time: 8-14 days.
