Volunteers are Vital!
Alacare Home Health & Hospice volunteers complete the circle of care that is extended to each Alacare homecare and hospice patient. Volunteers improve patients' quality of life by supplementing attention and companionship provided by Alacare medical staff. Additionally, Administrative Support Volunteers assist with clerical support duties in all branch locations throughout Alabama.
Opportunities available for direct involvement with Alacare patients include:
· Friendly visiting
· Writing letters
· Telephoning patients to say "hello"
· Reading
· Preparing light meals or snacks
· Light housekeeping
· Running errands
· Companionship
· Sending cards
Administrative support services in Alacare's branches include:
· Typing
· Filing
· Record-keeping
· Special projects
· Mail-outs
· Data entry
