The development of this page is ongoing, however here are a few resources deemed valuable by our membership. If there are resources out there that should be listed on this page, please contact the group and let us know.

Site of the Auburn University Gay and Lesbian Association.

Site of the University of Alabama's Queer Straight Alliance.

Site of the University of Alabama - Birmingham's Gay/Straight Student Alliance.

This site offers a variety of informative resources for individuals who may have questions about sexuality and coming out. The site is unique because, rather than claim that coming out is obligatory, it emphasizes the fact that the process of coming out must be taken at a pace which is comfortable with each individual. We have to feel comfortable with ourselves before taking the giant step of telling other people about your sexual orientation. We have to be aware that coming out can be a positive and self-affirming action, but that it is not always an easy thing to do. So, that's why ASD gives it approval to this site.

In the language of the group itself -- "PFLAG has become one of the most respected and effective grassroots organizations in the United States. Today, PFLAG represents more than 75,000 families - and speaks for countless others - concerned about society's attitudes toward their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered loved ones."

The Mobile Chapter meets the second Saturday of every month at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the Unitarian Universalist Church on Old Shell Road, just west of the University of South Alabama. Although the group meets on the grounds of the church, the chapter is not affiliated with the church. New participants are always welcome.

Human Rights Campaign

From the site: "The Human Rights Campaign, the largest national lesbian and gay political organization, envisions an America where lesbian and gay people are ensured of their basic equal rights -- and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. HRC has more than 360,000 members, both gay and non-gay -- all committed to making this vision a reality."
